Miss Leake's Journal by Alice Meredith Hodgson

Sarah Elizabeth Leake was the mistress at Rosedale, her father's property, near Campbell Town.

Alice Meredith Hodgson has transcribed Miss Leake's journal for April 1855 to May 1855, which covers her daily life and that of her family, friends and associates. Colonial identities and local people mentioned by Miss Leake have been identified and researched to provide descriptions of the family and social networks that existed at the time.

Miss Leake's Journal includes a chapter on cooking, including recipes from the era for dishes prepared by Sarah in the Rosedale kitchen.
